“Most of my work is of mixed medium: watercolour, ink and pencil. I like to paint the Canadian landscape, often simplifying the subject matter to suit my whim at that time . Old buildings sometimes take my fancy, and I am not adverse to painting the odd abstract if the mood suits. The work usually begins with a sketch or image taken on my travels in the area, which I take back to my studio and redesign, working out the composition format and size, I then transfer the image to a prepared sheet of watercolour paper, usually 300 lb D’Arches. And complete the work. I make my own frames and matts, and do not consider the piece finished until it is behind glass”.
