David Bond Bio

Current President of the Wasaga Artists

I started painting in 1990 when a friend and accomplished water colour aviation artist,  Sam Cole inspired me to purchase some water colour paints and brushes and put paint to paper. Encouraged by my first few attempts at this endeavor I wanted to learn more about painting. Remembering watching “The Magic of Oil Painting” PBS series with Bill Alexander in the past. I found the show was still being aired, but here I  also discovered Bob Ross. Almost immediately I changed my medium to oils.

Today I paint mostly in oils and acrylics in mixed media works with varying techniques to achieve greater texture and interest. Having yet to find “my style”, I continually experiment with various mediums and genre. Currently, the journey is more exciting than the far  distant  destination that I hopefully never reach.

Other than a dozen or so workshops I have taken over the years, I have not received any formal education in painting. Yes, anyone can paint!

Wasaga Artists’ hosts a number of workshops every year and is a great platform to learn or refine various techniques and painting styles.
